I heard how it had crowd to vote at 6am this morning more than previous years in various areas. I noticed a real big increase in traffic today down central as well around midday. I can only imagine how some people are thinking right now. End of the day, election come, election go, we are still a people but I suppose that doesn't matter to a lot of locals anymore.

It sad yes. In the year 2015 people still unnecessarily fighting down each other and discriminating against people of other ethnical backgrounds. No one chose to come out the way they are. We are all made under the image and likeness of the creator, so I don't see the differences really.

Even if aliens invaded and pushed us back to a small continent we would still have racism etc. It's a mentality some people refuse to grow out of.

This was the most racist election for a while. Sadly, I don't see racism during elections ending as long as the PNM and UNC around unless there is a radical reform where MP's and Ministers are elected by the public along with public input on what projects/ policies to pursue. Too much friend friend think and not enough proper representation.

A red finger once every 5 years in not good enough

Yeah fellas, I agree with that. The racialism was a bit over the top with this one. It really did expose some people's true colours and I must say that some of the people that the racists would angle their comments toward are the same people who would turn around and help them when their car is at the side of a highway and they can't change a spare tire or need assistance. It's very very sad but I refused to comment on any of it simply for the sake of pity that this the level so many people operate on in the year 2015 where we have so much information and exposure. For a country with a high literacy rate, T&T is really in a bad state where society and institutions of social behaviour are concerned.

FB was stink today with absolutely racist comments about the PNM.

Delusional, insipid and ignorant many of these Indians are.
Not everyone votes purely on race. some people actually examine government performance and how much corruption comes with said performance.

For those who wanna leave or glad they not in TT, plase do not return. The irony is you will find yourself on the RECEIVING end of even worse racism in countries like USA, Germany, UK. Even India Indians looks down on Trini Indians as little more than stray dogs!!

I never got racism in Trinidad as almost all of us liming together every Friday, sitting next too each other in public or even working with each other. The other thing that kills me is that if everyone on of go back to the source of our ethnicity we wouldn't be accepted though!

And I don't get how people could hate on Rowley ( for other than what Kamla installed in peoples minds from that ad campaign) , his party is diverse and they bringing new ideas and fixes to some of the problems that no other government looked at properly. You gonna see more hate on him as he try to fix the economy and balance the check books.

And it really made me wonder how much of these people have children and to wonder what are they installing in there minds...

when I watch comments from the ppl them and stats, it looks Like the racism still very high

I shut off quite a few people after this election when I see how they come out the closet with full on racialism. You'd never think the people you used to associate with at previous institutions would be like that having seen some of their bad side.

A lot of people were terribly disillusioned with this race thing. Elections is never about colour or who is who, its about who we elect as a society to be our next government for 5 years to come. Its about what they're offering. Racism is something I have a low tolerance towards and I'm glad I'm not the only one sharing a unified view of human beings.

The thing about it too, the ones making such remarks can't even construct a proper sentence and have horribly bad grammar. Sigh.

JUST IN: The UNC has been granted leave to challenge the September 7th elections in 6 marginal constituencies. The United National Congress officially filed their "Election Petition" tonight at the High Courth before Judge Mira Dean Armorer. The UNC is challenging election results in the marginals of: St Joseph, Tunapuna, La Horquetta/Talparo, Toco/Sangre Grande, Moruga/Tableland and San Fernando West.

Attorney Wayne Sturge told the media, if the UNC is successful in challenging the election results, by-elections will be held in 9 months. The Elelctions and Boundaries Commission was represented by Attorney Russell Martineau, SC. He was accompanied by the EBC's Chairman Dr Norbert Masson.
