Dil e nadan was formed in 1957 by the late Usaf Khan and Ramnarine Moonilal. Dil e nadan won the Prime Minister's Trophy for best indian ochestration which was judjed by the late great Mohammed Rafi 1962. The band enjoyed alot of success in the years to follow and dominated the local indian industry. In the 80's the band toured mainly Canada,Guyana and Suriname and boasted the best local singers the country had at the time. (Nazimul and Ruby, Ras Nancoo). In the mid 80's Ramnarine's two sons Rennie and Raymond joined the group as percussionists then moving on to trumpets, and then Guitars and Keyboards. With the push from then manager Haseeb Majid ,Raymond started his career as a lead singer. He entered the national duet singing competition with Swarsati Maraj in 1989 and won first place. This proved to be the start of the rise of the Indian Culture among the youths in Trinidad and Tobago. The next year (1990) Raymond entered Mastana Bahar where he placed Second in the grand finals (a result which still has unanswered questions). Rennie the eldest of the brothers also sang in the finals. That same year the youngest of the brothers Richard joined the band as a Tabla and Dholak player. The band did there first show in New York in 1993 at York College in Queens. (the show was sold out 1 week in advance) Then in 1996 the band was signed to Soca Paradise (Ramesh Singh) and released there first C.D. People's Choice. The success seemed to have just started as the band became the first band to tour Holland and Spain in 1997. In 1999 Richard became the youngest manager in Trinidad at only 19. Soon after dil e nadan became the first chutney group to perform at the world renouned Brass Festival and Youth fest. Dil e nadan holds the record for the most awards at the 103fm awards show (24).The band is currently sponsered by Bmobile and Stag. Dil e nadan recently signed a Five year deal in Holland with Bollywood LTD for performances in Europe.

Fantasia Barrino broke down in tears in front of hundreds of adoring fans during her performance at the Truth Is concert staged at the Ambassador Hotel, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday night. Allowing the tears to flow freely, the Grammy Award and 2004 American Idol winner had the crowd awestruck, as she cried while delivering her hit song Even Angels, from her third album Back To Me....she was in Trinidad to celebrate her 28th birthday told fans she had been through many obstacles in her life but had emerged stronger with the help of God. “No matter what you’ve been through, know that you can fly. I have to tell God thank you because he has blessed me. Just when I thought it was all over, he kept blessing me,” said Fantasia. “He’s always been there. I made it through because of God...Everything I went through is my testimony.”
Noting that the music industry is “very snakish,” Fantasia said it got very tough sometimes, as she had to deal with a lot of negativity during her career. She said, “This year, we lost Whitney Houston…They just wouldn’t leave her alone. They did not understand that she was only human. We lose family, friends, all for the love of money. The only person who will never leave you is Jesus.”
Fantasia later ripped off the bottom part of her outfit which transformed into a mini dress, revealing her tattooed legs. She boasted that she had learnt how to wine during her short stay and called on the crowd to “help me work it.” “I didn’t come here to be cute,” Fantasia said, as she kicked off her silver heels. “I came here to give you your money’s worth.” Fantasia then sent the crowd into a frenzy when she sang hits of yesteryear, including Prince’s Kiss and Tina Turner’s I Can’t Stand the Rain.
Fans, who came dressed to impress, showed their appreciation for the singer with loud applause and screams. One over-enthusiastic male fan kept shouting, “Ah love yuh girl! Oh Gosh!” Fantasia acknowledged him with a smile and a wave. Another male patron got the chance to join her onstage where he took the opportunity to show the star his dance moves.
To end her set, Fantasia sang American gospel artiste’s VaShawn Mitchell’s popular track Nobody Greater. With hands outstretched, the teary-eyed singer led the crowd in a worship session, as fans, young and old, put their hands in the air and sang along. “The only person who will never leave you is Jesus,” Fantasia said, as she knelt on stage, before making her exit shortly after 1 am.

i love her . she is amazing and her lifetime movie really was just a part of the obstacles in life she went through ..

calypsonian Seadley “Penguin” Joseph.... a former Calypso Monarch and Road March King died last Sunday, four days after he was discharged from the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope, after suffering a stroke.....
Joseph is one of only seven Calypsonians with the distinction of winning both Calypso King/National Calypso Monarch and Road March titles. He won the Calypso Monarch in 1984 with “Woman doh like sorf man” and “We Living in Jail”. Two years earlier, his hit “Deputy Essential” ruled the road on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, winning him that year’s Road March crow.....
His wife Roslyn recalled that “Calypso played a big part in his life. It was part of his heart. But he never saw himself as just a Calypsonian. In everything he did he saw himself as a teacher and a nurturer.” She fondly recalled that Joseph got his sobriquet from the Penguin Group — a book publishing company in the United States. “He was a literature man, hence his name Penguin. Many of his favourite books were from that publisher and he was an avid reader.”...
Joseph was known for a number of hits including “Deputy Essential,” “We Living in Jail,” “Woman doh like sorf man,” “Look D Devil,” and “What Sweet In Goat Mouth.”
