Yesterday i had to make a run with my family to Oropouche. On reaching Golconda i was literally amazed at the level of development. The entire Goldconda to Oropouche including La Romain, Mosquito Creek etc. were under construction. New roads, flyover, refurbishing of roadways , traffic lights , shoulders , bridges etc. were clearly seen under construction.
I am very impressed. I know everything takes time and there was alot of traffic but in the end it will all be worth it .
Recently, my drive to Debe was also enjoyable and i reached there in no more than 40mins on a busy time of the day.

What do you guys think? Are you satisfied with the level of development in the Southern Areas?
Do you think that your current local government is working for you?

Honestly, i can say yes for the south areas. These things needed developing long ago. Just look at mosquito creek when rain falls and the seas are rough. Good roads = less traffic

The highway to Debe was a great idea. Going to south is effortless now. Eliminates a lot of stop and road driving.

I think the road and highway changes are a great idea and makes getting to your destination a lot easier. Hopefully this will encourage organizations and businesses to extend the same opportunities to South as they do for North.

I was so amazed . That road from Golconda to Mosquito Creek is pretty bad and i am glad after all these years it's getting fixed. Cannot wait to see the new businesses being opened and how it will all look when it's finished.

Lets not forget it will quickly return to its former glory with the quality of paving locally.

I'll stick to my 4wd cause the road wont be smooth for too long.

How do drivers with low vehicles get by on these roads without damaging their cars?

Notice when they drive by the metal on asphalt sounds that are heard. They damage their car but for them: form>function.

I don't understand how they can tolerate that. I cringe when I see low vehicles and just imagine hearing the sounds. I'm even more perplexed by the people that have to drive through bad roads on a regular basis or drive in and out of problematic driveways daily and still persist with the low cars.

I personally know someone who has to go through this on a daily basis and it is not nice at all. Its one problem after another with their vehicle and it came from the firm just as it is. Many first world countries are manufacturing the cars low because they are taking into consideration that development is taking place over the world and roads are changing. They may think that bad roads are a thing of the past, but little do they know Trinidad has the worst roads on earth and we have an abundance of asphalt eh !

LOL oh the memes I have seen on social media that I could put here! I don't know what to say about Trinidad's import/export way of thinking. Hopefully we do not end up in the same scenario as the Irish once faced: A country fully capable and overflowing with produce, but plagued by starving, dying people from famine due to stupid exporting.

Lol shadow have you seen the fifty shades of grey trinidadian style meme lmaoo!

The sports car come low from the factory. its nice and all as it looks aggresive and lowers the center of gravity for cornering but its not worth it on a daily driver here locally. Its better to ride in a boaty sedan. May be cheaper in repairs and maintenance long term.

I do like lowered sports cars but its just not functional here.
The asphalt is another story...

Ta-da!!!!

Pretty accurate portrayal of our roads IMO lol

lmaoooooooooooooo! Yes that meme self ! I think La Romain roads look similar to this eh ! Is only a setta patch work down there, For now i hope ! Cannot wait to see the finished product :D

Out the road from where I live does not look much different to this. The patch work is rougher than the bad road LOL. Maybe 75 shades of grey :D

The patchwork is one thing, don't talk for the landslips and roadworks that never end. When I come across a piece of good road in South I'm actually shocked. I can't even think of an example to give lol

For being a small country life sure is different across Trinidad. Why is it some places must have absolutely deplorable roads while others always often repaved? Politics really is the downfall of paradise.

Because the people who have the power to change these things don't really frequent these roads. If and when they do, they are escorted in top of the line vehicles and everyone clears the way for them so they still don't get the real experience so many of us do on a regular basis. Out of sight, out of mind.

I've been told the backseat of some of these "top of the line" vehicles ride really harsh and I do know that some of the previous ministers used to pass in some of the bad roads themselves. So its really about raking in that side $$ if anything. Sad to say that because we are really suffering here and the average Trini doesn't know to slow down in the bad road, they bumper you and try to pass in the most indiscrete times.

From my experience with South roads, riding in the backseat of a Prado vs. a March is a world of a difference. In a March you feel like you're riding a roller coaster the whole ride and in a Prado you barely notice the nitty gritty negative aspects on the road. I'm pretty sure officials aren't sitting in Marches or similar vehicles to get to where they're going. Having a fully serviced high-end vehicle with air conditioning is a big difference compared to normal or low-end cars with issues and/or no AC on these roads.
