Laventille residents yesterday claimed “murder†after a 23-year-old father was shot dead by police as he lay wounded, talking to his mother on his cell phone. Police said a gun was found close to him.
As he lay bleeding from an initial gunshot to his leg, residents say police found Tristan “Barbin†Cobbler and shot him three more times as he hid in some bushes.
His mother Wendy Pope met with the area’s Member of Parliament for Laventille West Nileung Hypolite and was embraced by him, before recalling her last words with her son before he was shot dead.
