Wow this is really sad bro, a side mirror is probably the craziest thing I've ever heard stolen from a car. Hope you get pleasing solution...

This....and im trying to figure out why all the running around and avoidance to show the video.....Trinidad will always be 3rd world with mentality like steupes...and if the camera has a blind spot there why hasnt anything been done to fix it

Thats fuel for the fire! Why is it a large organization like Price Smart playing games about who owns the camera instead of just showing the video?

I could only imagine how the OP feels about the whole thing. Yes assume no liability but for the very least show people the video and how is it they could live with a big blindspot in front the camera? That I will not understand. The whole purpose of the camera is to record what goes on around the car park, Trinis again.... Forward never, Backwards forever.

They really like to create stress for people and clearly Saxman642 knows his stuff. I don't think they'll be expecting what comes next.

I haven't finished my "compensate me or get sued letter" to PriceSmart yet.... I will make time to do that tomorrow and send it in to them next week Monday or Tuesday.

I know they basically hoping i will abandon this matter. But I will be using them as a "practice run" to prepare for a far bigger courtroom opponent in the future.

If so they might reply stating that there was a sign and that it might not be held up at court. I Was going thru my business law book and it states that if a company's car park has the 'not held liable sign' then it cannot stand up in court

I've always have an issue with those kinds of signs. That tells me that anyone including an employee of the company - hell, even the CEO/Director - who owns the car park could mess with your car and then tell you "tough". Not buying into it

Paolo Kernahan had stuff stolen from his car at Trincity Mall years ago and the mall compensate him (most likely because he was a reporter and the risk of bad publicity).

In addition, Even so, I wanna see if them fighting me in court for a mere TT$500 worth the cost of lawyers and the bad publicity that will come with it.

Talk about a freaking plot twist.

Something tells me to go back to PriceSmart car park tonight after haring Lady Death's counsel. I did indeed find the disclaimed sign, but I found - or rather could NOT find - something far more sinister:

THE EFFING SECURITY CAMERA IS GONE!!

I went to the back of the car park (delivery entrance) and inquired with a lone PriceSmart security guard on a chain, who was not even aware it was removed. He had to walk right up and see for himself. He thinks it was removed since last week!


Next step was to trace the pipe. It starts at the empty space where the camera was, go straight to the roof of the underground carpark. it continues along a row of piped from south to north til you reach the north wall of the underground car park. At that point you hit a conduit along that wall. one way ends at the passage nearest Fiesta Plaza. I didn't check where the other direction goes. But common sense tells me this cable traveling far to be a PriceSmart camera.

Good GRIEF, things just got confusing.

Somehow I think it will be VERY necessary to return tomorrow and snap pics/take video of the pipe, just in case that vanishes too! I will be contacting one Mr. Nero, the head of MovieTowne security about this.

Lady Death, I'd love to hear your reaction to this one.

I close with this question:

If PriceSmart say is not their camera, and MovieTowne say is not their camera, who the HELL removed the camera??? The fricking Easter Bunny?

My guesses:
- my threatening PriceSmart with legal action on their fb page... (they may want to say in court there was never a camera to begin with, but I took pics long time)
- there might be actual footage of the incident and they may even know whodunit.

Good that you took pictures of the camera before, I hope you get pictures of the pipe before its taken down and then after it's gone as well. Will these photos be time stamped? This is a stroll in the Botanical Gardens compared to another matter I have been pursuing for 5 years and counting. In fact I treating this as a dress rehearsal for that other matter.

The metadata of the pictures has the exact date and time the pics were taken. Lastly, see the pipe on the light pole. I wonder if it will be still there when I return today:

So I met with the Head of MovieTowne Security and showed him the missing camera. He was stunned when I first informed him.

I made sure to take several photos, tracing the pipe. This time I noticed what I didn't notice before: the pipe from the missing camera reached a junction box that split into two. One made a right turn and headed for .... a... PRICESMART CAMERA! It is immediately above the start of the ramp incline when going up, against the wall. You won't see that camera unless you are heading back down the ramp from the upstairs carpark

I very highly doubt it is good practice for two different companies to share the same security cable conduit, so I dare say we know whose camera it is beyond reasonable doubt!

I'll enjoy sending off my demand letter to to one Mr.Dhanraj Mahabir next Monday.

I really don't know what to say about them anymore. They are evidently avoiding (or trying to) avoid accountability for something that was clearly in their backyard, so to speak. Don't be surprised if that pipe goes missing too! I was also wondering if you got any more feedback or even any advice from the officer that was supposed to be assisting you?

Omgggee! This is a frickin Nancy Drew Case & Pricesmart is the culprit!


Okay, so this baffled me because

1. They will indeed held liable because the camera was still placed on their compound. One can argue that there is a camera out there
and even the security guards know about it so its not like if its a secret.
2. They removed it because they don't want to go through the stress of legal matters, so its best to remove the camera or say its not theirs.
3. Holding back evidence is a crime in the US , but i dont know how it is charged here .
