Three teenagers posing as PH drivers and passengers robbed a man who got into their vehicle Tuesday evening.

But the three ended up in hospital after the car crashed into a maxi-taxi that night during a police chase.

In custody are a 19-year-old female and two males, aged 17 and 19.

Police said the gang stopped for Avin Chatoor at Papourie Road, Barrackpore. Chatoor expected to be taken to San Fernando.

Instead, a "passenger" pulled a cutlass and Chatoor was taken to Pleasantville, where he was robbed of a cellphone, money and jewelry.

Chatoor reported the crime to police and at 7.05 p.m. Police spotted the gang's car at St Clement's Village, near San Fernando.

The chase ended when the suspects' car crashed into a 25-seater maxi-taxi. Paramedics took the injured to hospital. The woman is in police custody. The others are under police guard at hospital.
