Opposition MP Roodal Moonilal says since the CoP’s post was finalised recently, there’s now a pressing need to appoint a deputy CoP to assist the incoming Commissioner.
He noted, that Dulalchan had applied for the deputy’s position.
“So there should be no reason not to confirm him there. He applied for (DCP) in the first place and on that basis Government blanked him for Commissioner saying ‘you can’t get what you didn’t apply for’. So he should be confirmed,” Moonilal told the Sunday Guardian.
Moonilal said he didn’t think Government would first seek to review the PSC’s selection process.
“The merit list has been successfully used by Government … they got the Commissioner of their choice,” he said.
Moonilal queried if Commissioner-designate Griffith would be appointed a police officer and wear khaki, as former Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs did, or wear suits.
