Purchasing eye wear just got easier following the signing of an agreement between Massy Stores and Optometrist Today for the purchase spectacles using the Massy Stores Credit Purchase Agreement. The signing took place yesterday at the Frederick Street branch of Optometrist Today.

Through the Massy Stores Credit Purchase Agreement, customers will not need to pay immediately for their eye wear, making it easily accessible and affordable.

Massy Stores CEO Derek Winford explained: “In most large retail organisations you can get food, glasses...some have laundries. So optical and retail have teamed up internationally and it’s an established thing. Optometrist Today is a great company.

“The part of the portfolio we are really contributing is the finance. In four of our stores we sell large appliances and we have a hire purchase product. Eyecare is quite costly now and times are difficult so we would be doing the financing for Optometrist Today,” he said.

General manager of Optometrist Today Theresa Alexis said the partnership with Massy is very viable for providing eye care services.

“Eye care is a very vital part of our existence and we have different ways patients can pay. We have assignment of benefits via the insurance companies.

“Now partnering with Massy the patient now has the option to get credit facilities to purchase their glasses. At this particular time we see it as vital because the economy is dictating certain things and people are looking at what they’re buying and how much they’re spending. We want to make eye care more affordable for everyone,” she said.

Alexis said the arrangement will also cover Massy staff and retirees, as well as staff of Optometrist Today. She also hinted at the possibility of Optometrist Today outlets being set up within Massy Stores.

“This is the beginning of the partnership, so we don’t know how far it’s going to go,” she said.
