The search is on for a Point Fortin schoolboy who severely chopped his neighbour during an intense argument on Friday evening.

Marvin Richards, 25, was being treated for severe gashes to his head, elbow, chest and torso at the San Fernando General Hospital up to yesterday.

A report stated that around 6.20 pm on Friday, Richards and his 17-year-old neighbour were having an argument outside their homes when the incident happened. The teenager’s 30-year-old brother decided to intervene and both men began to tussle.

According to police, Richards allegedly took a piece of wood and struck the man several times. In response, the teenager picked up a cutlass and chopped Richards five times. The teenager was then restrained by his brother and he allegedly left the scene. His brother and Richards were taken to the Area Hospital in Point Fortin where they were both treated. Richards was transferred to the San Fernando Hospital while the 30-year-old man was discharged. He then went to the Point Fortin Police Station and reported the incident.

WPC Williams of the Point Fortin CID is continuing inquiries.

In another incident, a 35-year-old Carapo man was arrested after being caught in possession of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

A report stated that on Friday, Northern Division Task Force officers were carrying out an anti-crime exercise in Arima around 11 pm when they saw a man acting suspiciously along Pinewood Drive, Carapo.

The officers stopped and searched the man and found a .45 pistol loaded with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition tucked in his waist.
