The rarest blood type is AB negative. O negative is not the most rare, but is the most needed because it is the universal donor, meaning any blood type may have o neg transfused. O neg is what is used in traumas when blood types are unknown and the job is to sustain life. There is no time to match and cross match, so o neg will be used each time.

AB+ blood owners are the most stingy. Can take from anyone but only give to themselves.

Btw, what is the significance of blood types? Why do some blood types work and others don't? Also, why the weird naming system? Why not just blood types A-G?
