What is HID? HID - High Intensity Discharge.
What is Kelvin (K)? - Colour temperature (5000K, 6000K, 8000K etc.)
Advantages of HID:
- 3X Brighter & more consistent illumination of the road, and increases comfort & reduces fatigue when driving at night
- Produces blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight
- 10X Longer Lasting.
- 30% less power consumption, thus generate much less heat during operation.
3000K- Yellow light. Suitable for foglights.
4300K- White light with tinges of yellow. Similar to halogen.
5000K- PURE WHITE LIGHT
6000K- Crystal white. Some detect a very, very slight tinge of blue.
8000K- Mixture of white and blue. Blue hue becomes more distinct.
10,000K- Royal blue light.
12,000K- White light with slight blue hue.
15,000K- White light with slight purple hue.

**Safe or legal temperatures would range from:
For fog lamps: 3000K to 8000K
For headlamps: 4300K to 8000K**
Colour temperature ('K') vs brightness.
It is a common misconception that higher colour temperatures (K?s) produce brighter lights. This is not true. The colour temperature only determines the colour but not the brightness of the HID light. The higher the colour temperature, the closer you get to achieving bluish to purplish light colours and the lower the overall light output. The color of your HID light is also dependent on the type of lamp housing your vehicle has, be it reflector housing or projector housing.
For every halogen bulb, their is a direct replacement HID bulb to fit your vehicle.
