Hamid Ali Charged With Killing Dana Seetahal

Hamid Ali, one of eleven persons who were detained by police on Monday for questioning in the murder of Dana Seetahal one year ago, has been formally charged with murdering the State Counsel in May 2014.
Ali is the brother of Rajaee and Ishmael Ali, both of whom are on Remand Yard at Golden Grove, awaiting trial on a charge of conspiring to murder radio announcer Kevaughn ?Lerbz? Savory.
His other brother, Hassan Atwell, remains at large, after he, along with Alan 'Scanny' Martin and Christopher Selby, staged a daring escape by shooting their way out of the Port of Spain prison at noon on Friday.
Several among the detainees will be slapped with different charges. Among those detained on Monday were Rajaee?s wife, Stacy Griffith, brothers Stephen and Devon Cummings, Ricardo Stewart, Keston Seales and Deon Peters, all of whom are members of the Carapo mosque which is administered by Imam Hassan Ali, the father of Rajaee, Hassan and Ishmael.

Yea well apparently, it is alleged Anil " call da shot" on Lurbz. Anil had links with Rajae Ali through the Life Sport Program during Anil's tenure as Minister of Sport.

No surprise there. The rum talk gossip I heard is that the Life Sport Program was used as a way for Anil to get good with the youths so he could use them to call shots if he had to. After all, he paying them.

On a side note, Anil wife have some of the worst taste in men... Anil and Lerbz... seriously?!?!

Time will tell with this one now. I would like to hear what evidence the state produces.

i think that they were just puppets to a bigger scheme. Some people said she had dirt on Anand Ramlogan and plan to release it to the public. Others say it was Anil Roberts. She was indeed an exceptional woman and i hope that everything comes to light in this case.

I don't know if time will tell or allow it to be buried considering how quickly things seem to be forgotten in this country. But I guarantee you that you are correct in saying that they are puppets in a bigger scheme. What motive would they have had to kill Dana Seetahal in such a manner?

Well she was an independent senator and fought many cases on behalf of the state. When she walked in the courtroom, all accused "bamcy does start to clap". With her gone, it would seriously push the result in favour of the accused.
I am not saying that was the motive, but I think it lies somewhere along those lines. Because of her profession. A couple weeks before she was murdered, she had begun stepping on the toes on some "big boys", via her columns in the daily newspapers.

I just don't see a gang leader from Arima going directly at such a public figure without some sort of incentive. I could be wrong but there is just a gut feeling that it was part of something bigger.

We will see what unfolds and the DPP seems to have quite sufficient evidence to convict these men for the murder.
