Hello all, I was wondering what are some suggestions to treating and preventing rust on the current model Hilux?
I have come across the fish oil method, silicone spray method but don't feel comfortable using either of those.

Hey you can try Permatex? Rust Treatment,

  • Easily applied, just brush or spray it on
  • Destroys rust on all automotive applications
  • Within minutes, rust disappears and a durable black polymer coating develops
  • Tough coating serves as an excellent protective primer that you can paint over
  • Specially formulated to be used with body filler and fiberglass

Provides one-step treatment that destroys old rust and prevents new rust. Just brush or spray on. Within minutes, rust is replaced by a durable black polymer coating that may be painted. Excellent protective primer

Thanks for all the repies guys. Lol, purple blaster for rust? Isn't PB a degreaser? I like that permatex treatment, someone should try selling it locally too.
As for the 3m, I saw that being used a lot here, it seems like a great undercoating.
I came across a local business that applies the Krown Rust Treatment but I'd like to give the permatex a try and seal it all up with the 3m if i can. Will definitely have to put some consideration into this now.

You should, a vehicle is an expensive investment and one must take care of it. I will try and buy some as well and apply it since mazda 3 has lot of road noise.

Its a lot cheaper than buying "second skin" as well. Maybe you'll get better bass from your speakers too lol.

Its unfortunate that the current model Hilux has rust issues especially just under the radiator...
