After two months and nine days trapped 2,000 feet below ground in a collapsed mine, all 33 miners were slowly hoisted above ground Wednesday, thanks to the help of ingenious engineers in Chile.
The entire operation took 22 hours. Each rescued miner rotated 10 to 12 times in the NASA-designed skinny capsule on the 2,000-foot journey, so NASA researchers gave them a special liquid diet which helped to stave off nausea and vomiting from the dizzying re-entry procedure.
