A 71-year-old woman is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today after she was caught stealing groceries from a Debe supermarket on Saturday afternoon.
Police said when they arrested the woman, she told them, “I don’t know what happened, but something came over me.”
According to reports, the woman, who lives at Charles Street, La Romaine, went to MS Foodcity Supermarket along the SS Erin Road on Saturday. As she shopped, a security officer observed that while putting items in a cart she also hid some, including ice cream and milk, in her handbag. She proceeded to the counter where she paid the cashier for the items in the cart. As she was about the leave, the officer searched her handbag and found the other items, valued at over $200. She was arrested and taken to the San Fernando CID where PC Andre laid the charge yesterday. (KC)
