We've all seen the quizzes on social media:

The general pop psychology trend with these posts and quizzes is that we tend to like characters that remind us of parts of ourselves or of meaningful things and that generic statements can be seen as relatable depending on our perceptions of ourselves as demonstrated in this Buzzfeed video.

This article, however, believes that your top 5 favorite fictional characters can help you to "get a better picture" of someone and reveal interesting things about yourself as well.

Here is the gist of the basic rules:
1. They must be fictional characters. Games, books, movies, commercials, etc. is all fair game.
2. They do not necessarily have to be your top 5 of all time; in the event of a tie breaker, choose your current favorites.
3. The order in which they are listed do not matter. (#equality)
4. Don't list what you think others will want to see or rate as popular; be honest with yourself.
5. Favorite can mean a character who reminds of yourself or someone else, who you aspire to be, who represents something to you, etc. As long as they have meaning to you, they're in.

I have way too many favorite characters to only list five but I'll try:

1. Amidala/Padme (Star Wars)
2. Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (The Avengers)
3. Jace Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments series)
4. Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)
5. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter series)

What are your top five?
