So I have decided I need a new battery.

Current battery has gone on me THREE times in the last 5 days! :frusty:

It is under warranty, but I want a bigger battery then this skinny ACDelco garbage.

Tell me who makes the best batteries! I want 11 & 13 plate, sealed maintenance free!

I heard to get them a PriceSmart, to get the Bosch Brand. Feel free to make suggestions... quick!

Bosch S4 batteries have lasted my family over 3 years. We've had about 3 or 4 and all of them have lasted. One of them used to take abuse with a little music system and with a lil charger on it and it was back and good as ever.

Are you 100% sure it's the battery? If the battery is still under warranty, carry it back.

I have heard some not so encouraging reviews about Bosch batteries nirtime. Personally, I think everyone will have a different experience with an automotive battery. Comes down to power consumption habits, load, useage and abuse the battery faces. I currently run an XS Power battery. By far the best battery I have ever had. Rocket, my previous battery was quite good.
So those are two two recommendations, based on personal experience and full lifetime useage.
XS Power and Rocket. Both have good warranty. Three years on my current XS Power and the Rocket had 18 months. Both SMF batteries.

I got an Eveready 13-plate battery from PriceSmart. We'll see how it performs...

$729 was all it cost

Used one of those Eveready for a two days before I bought my XS Power. Good for the price and it satisfied my car's power demands for the time. It wasn't even a new one. My Rocket went to meet his maker and my next door neighbour who is a mechanic loaned it to me. That was my experience.

However, I have seen quite a few people return those Eveready batteries at Price Mart. Not trying to bash your purchase or discourage you from enjoying the possible good service. This is just my honest review and to show that there are no bullet-proof batteries on the market (except maybe XS Power). Abuse it and it will konk out. Treat it right and you will enjoy good service.

People buy an automotive battery and expect it to work wonders.
I do hope that you experience good service and useage for the battery's full life span.

It depends on what you want the battery to do.
When you abuse a battery like the Bosch S4 made for average automotive use and then compare that with an xs power built around high current draw and constant discharge and recharge cycles then it must seem to be much better.

I think with the Eveready warranty should be watched closely since as Brotherhood has said a lot do get returned but for the price it seems like a great buy.

I'd like to hear the definition of "abuse".

The battery is just for daily driving and to keep my dash cams powered, even when the engine is switched off (the cams have built in battery drain protection, and will turn off)

Cams are 12v and 5v power.

Abuse is essentially for guys with lots of music installed where they constantly discharge the batteries and recharge them again and again.

I figured your uses were mainly average that's why I felt confident to recommend the Bosch, please let us know how your experience goes with the Eveready.

Most people with lots of music in their car should:
1) Upgrade alternator
2) Upgrage battery
3) Do the big 3 upgrade

Some guys even add more alternators to charge separate batteries dedicated to powering amps.

From experience the order I'm which I'd buy a battery:
1) XS Power
2) Eveready
3) 3K (had 3 of these batteries in a span of 2 years....worst battery)

Well abuse doesn't necessarily refer to only the guys with big audio equipment. I am talking about starting a vehicle with the radio, AC controls and any other accessory already on or plugged in. In addition, failure to clean battery poles. Let me elaborate.

The battery will have to exert more power closer to its maximum capacity when a car is started with the radio already on, no matter the volume level. The same applies when the AC is left on. The battery not only has to tumble the engine, it has to exert more power the turn the AC on, and or radio simultaneously. It might seem like nothing but this is battery abuse and decreases the life span of a battery. We all do it. I myself am sometimes guilty of such.

Battery poles over time have a build up of white powdery substance, which really is sulfuric acid. This acid is formed from escaping hydrogen gases from the battery. This acid then corrodes the battery posts and terminals and again, your battery will not be receiving adequate charge.

This is the basis of which my previous post about battery abuse is directed to.
I am not however claiming that any of you are guilty of these practices. Just showing what battery abuse can be.

I think I agree with you brotherhood. That is essentially a great summary of battery use and "abuse".

Yea well I just wanted to clear things up, because people seem to think that an automotive battery is only subject to abuse in vehicles that have big power draw audio systems.

Based on what you say, I been abusing all the car batteries I've had since I got the car!

A/C, Phone charger, 2 dash cams, and a GPS tracker are all connected when I start car. And this was with a small battery.

I have no intention on unplugging any of them every time I have to start car despite the revelation. All I can do is record how the bigger battery stands up to my abuse.

Yea man cool. Check it out and see. As I said, I myself am sometimes guilty of such. Not demanding that anyone does it.

I know about the ac one. I take special precautions to turn off the ac and blower before starting. As for the radio and my dash cam i leave them plugged in and the battery I have lasted more than 4 years, 3 of which involved starting with a small amp as well.

So I guess you can get away with some abuse.

The only thing in my car that remains plugged in/turned on is my car charger. Other than that the deck, amps and any other accessories turned off. Even went a step further and installed a switch to my remote wires to completely ensure that they don't drain my battery or put a strain on it

If you leave the A/C remains on the relay for the compressor can blow when you turn on the car.

I didn't know the compressor relay could blow like that. Good info there!

Actually the main power of the vehicle is its battery so we have to keep it fresh for the reliable drive.Mostly i used the Osaka battery because its strength id good than other and also its plates are made up of good material.
