As we all know at some point in time the people who are not mechanically inclined have to visit a mechanic at some point in time. So with that here we go:
5) Charging for unnecessary repairs
This may be in the form of the mechanic says X is wrong with your car and repairs it and the problem is still there. he finally repairs what was wrong but you had to pay for all of the other repairs he did in order to solve that one problem. Dont worry it has happened to some of us.

4) Over charging for parts and labor

3) Joyriding your car
This sometimes happens lol but even if you have proof you cant do nothing about it as nothing was damage on you car, except for a rare case for eg like he crashes it

2) Stealing from your car
Thats why its a good practice to remove you valuables from your vehicle before you send it to the mechanic.

1) Damaging your car while it is in their possesion.
This can be done in the form when parts are being changed and random dents on the car body which was not there before.

The next problem is when they charge top price and using knock off parts and doing improper repairs. Sometimes a man have to carry he car 2 or 3 places and then resort to seeking out a professional in the industry to really fix a general maintenance part even.

True talk i post it there so people can look out for it lol best advice to those people is to walk with your own parts so you know the quality

I say the best repair is one you do yourself yes. Its not always possible but people need to pay a lot more attention to the signs because we have lots of used cars and I does see some kind of repairs sometimes.

They will also charge you an exorbitant amount of money to go and buy your parts and make a profit out of it.

They also lie and say they bought the original parts when its a lie.

They also change unnecessary parts just to make more money of your head without consulting you first.

They also tell you that the old parts were so damaged they threw it away, when in reality they sell it to others for a small price.

These are the ways that I try to mitigate these problems.

1. I buy all of my own parts. This includes fluids to mechanical and electrical items. This way I know exactly what is being used in my car and how much I paid for it.

2. I try to never leave my car by the mechanic. I have had mechanics tell me just drop of the car as soon as I can and they will get to it by the end of the week. I tell them instead I will give them an extra week to make sure that things have been freed up enough for me to come and have my car seen to one time. I rather have the car sit down doing nothing in front of my house than his.

3. I try to always stand up and watch the mechanic work. The simple idea is that I want to see what my money is being spent on. If I'm not allowed to watch the mechanic work then you are guaranteed to never see me again.

4. Ask a lot of questions. It's my car, I don't care how annoying I am, it's my time and money being spent. If you have a problem with it then, again, you are guaranteed to never see me again.

5. Old talk with the mechanic. I learn a lot of small tips and tricks in "by the way" conversations with the mechanics I go by.

So far there are two bike mechanics that I know very well and can trust as they don't mind me doing any of the above. In fact, the good mechanics are proud of their work and rather you see all the hard work they put in. So far I have never had to do major work on my current car so I have not had need to search out a good car mechanic as yet.
