Popular radio personalities of VibeCT 105FM George Gonzales, Natalie Morales-Thomas and acclaimed veteran comedian Tommy Joseph— hosts of the early morning radio show Mixed Nuts—will spend this week hammering out final preparations for their upcoming sports and family day which they have branded Mixed Fun.

VibeCT 105FM is just one sister station of Guardian Media Limited (GML). The other radio stations are 95.1FM, Slam 100.5 FM, Sangeet 106.1FM, Sky 99.5 FM and Aakash Vani 106.5 FM.

For the past few weeks, the three-member Mixed Nuts crew of George, Natalie and Tommy—as they are fondly referred to by the scores of morning listeners—has been putting together final preparations for the bumper sports and family day.

The event, supported by Western United Credit Union, takes place on May 30 at the Sports and Physical Education Centre of the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, popularly known as UWI SPEC. All former hosts of Mix Nuts have also been invited to the event.

As they sat in station this week, George noted that the team’s initiative to host a sports and family day came about as a result of the volume of regular callers to Mix Nuts requesting that a day be set aside for regular callers, fans and other well wishers to all meet and greet each other as the show’s audience has been growing on a daily basis.

He said the audience of listeners to the show continues to extended to North America and other European countries. These fans, he added, are also regular callers to the show, making valuable contributions to daily topics discussed on the programme.

George, Natalie and Tommy shared the same view that they do not only view Mix Nuts as a radio show but also a platform to help communities and people who may be in need of social help.

Declaring open passion for his job, George stated that he looks forward to attend work each day to be part of the Mix Nuts crew which, he says, “sticks together.” He said each day the three-member team feel a sense of joy after completing the show.

For Natalie, the show does not end at 9 am. She said each day after the programme, they sit and discuss fresh ideas and how best they can help someone who may have called the show appealing for social help apart from other issues.

Tommy said his review of the show tells him that there were hundreds of other die-hard and patriotic fans who listen but do not call in because of shyness.

The three-member hosts of the early morning programme said they have planned other initiatives for the station and have thanked Western United Credit Union for the collaboration and partnership of Mix Fun.
