In this video, Larry Kosilla at AmmoNYC shows some of the things that we need to know when we do our own paint correction by machine. To some extent, the simplicity of working with these machines is made possible through this video as well as a great insight into different types.

I personally recommend the Dual Action Polisher. It differs from the usual home random orbital buffer as it is more powerful yet very safe for paint use. It has proven to achieve excellent results on most paint finishes using the appropriate compounds and pads. It is very easy to pick up a DA and practice on your daily driver. With a rotary buffer, this is not so easy. Rotary's focus all their power on one spot and as such heat, an unwanted bi-product of the spinning motion can result in the paint becoming burned/ stripped off the surface of the car if held for too long.
