Giant African Snail in Trinidad

In recent years the Giant African Snail population has been growing rapidly affecting gardening, animals and residential properties. Where my family lives in Central, it has been a hazard for pets and children where they cannot go outdoors unsupervised because of the snails. Is your area affected?
