In this thread, I will be periodically updating information as time progresses. I love history, its a very interesting topic of debate, discussion and an excellent source of motivation and learning. I thought some of you may also have interest in understanding how some manufacturers came into existence. So without further ado, I present to you some of the documentaries that tell the story of brands we've come to know and love today.

Mercedes Benz: Karl Benz and G.Daimler

Origin:
Mercedes-Benz traces its origins to Karl Benz's creation of the first petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, financed by Bertha Benz and patented in January 1886 and Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach's conversion of a stagecoach by the addition of a petrol engine later that year. The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901 by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft. The first Mercedes-Benz brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz company

Toyota:Sakichi Toyoda

Origin:
Toyota is the result of the persistence of the son of a poor carpenter. Sakichi Toyoda built Japan's first fully automatic loom in the late 1800s. He was later kicked out of his own company as he devoted too much economic resources to Research and Development. He visited America and had returned to Japan with reignited desire. He started a new company Toyota Spinning and Weaving. He used the income from this company to perfect his fully automatic loom. He later sold the company to his son on one condition, it be used in the creation of the automobile.

With that in mind, Toyota was started in 1933 as a division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works under the direction of the founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda. Toyota is the first Japanese car ever produced. S.Toyota is the founder of the term Kaizen which stands for continuous improvement.

Nice to know about the manufacturing history of these cars.I like it so much and their is no issue in it and no wrong prediction in this history.

Oh now thats a good one, I started to watch that one and stopped late last year. McLaren's philosophy is something else.

Yes Grim, very much so, some strong similarities at that too lol.

yea i watched alot last year but cant find them so i have to watch and will update inside here as i watch over some more and try not to drool on the cars im watching lol

Lol the more of these I watch is the more I feel to cry. Electronics is really taking over the industry and while it is good that everyone can manage these high performance cars now like the GT-R for instance, I really feel like it takes away from the character that the older models had.

Don't worry, I have a few to add soon. Two interesting Japanese makers.

i rell love the gt-r it speaks to my soul the r35 have rell potential like its older brothers....just nissan baby it a little bit because in this day and age ppl want heavy tech in their cars unlike back in the days where it was minimum

It has insane potential, that VR38 was derived from the VRH35L, its a beast for a 6 cylinder. Some of these like the Switzer R1K taking down Veyrons.

Still though, R32-R34 I'm on board. 6 gears, a clutch pedal and an RB, yes please!

I am agree with you,its have great potential and every user know it well and personally i searched about it but not test it.

Mack very interesting

That drag race in the end looked like good fun. I'm amazed to know Mack still uses hand techniques for the majority of their assembly line, especially the paint work. The Gold and Silver emblems are cool as well whereby the Gold emblem means the engine is a Mack engine and not another popular one. Thats really cool to see.

yea it cool to let ppl know how to differentiate an all in house mack truck lol and the mother of all air guns

Yeah its too cool and difference in these truck easily solve out if you have some knowledge about the vehicles.Otherwise you have to contact with a mechanic.

Bumblebeee :D fast and effective building
