DRM Hacking

In this thread, we will discuss Code Group 15, so called DRM hacking. It is no secret that DRM contains many icons & graphics. Some are in GIF format, which is rather simple to replace, however, most icons are stored in RAW image format, and there lies some challenges.
How I got interested in this one is that as I was working on my skin project, I wanted to customize video camera icons. The animated one is GIF file, so no sweat, but other two small icons are RAW format. With available programs plus some hex editing, I was able to replace them with modified version of icons. After that, went further, created my own icons for the signal bar, battery indicator, ring styles, etc. It was challenging at times but fun. Another thing that has been bugging me was a blue phone icon in the media section(Themes, Sounds, Pictures, and Videos) top menu bar. It simply doesn't belong there, but it was there, so I changed to more appropriate media icon.
Now that I feel comfortable about the subject matter, I wanted to start a thread to discuss with our members. The reason why I also want icon designers to participate in the thread is that icon creation is a big part of DRM hacking. Our very own ZoSo will participate I hope, as well as one of my favorite designers, tvrtkod. I'm expecting, in this thread, we will collect many customized icons for our members to use.
Feel free to post what icons that you want to be customized the most as well. And here is the shot of my phone with customized icons.

The lists of DRM RAW Icons with detail description put together by MotoX. Each icons are categorized, and the lists will grow in time. However, these icons are the most essential icons contained in DRM.
Most wanted icons:
1. signal bar (for inner screen & outer screen)
2. battery indicator (for inner screen & outer screen)
3. ring styles (loud, soft, silent, vibe, vibe & ring, vibe then ring)
Programs to be used:
1. SHXCoDec-> http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=1297 (most of you already have this program)
2. Raw 2 Bmp-> http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=1297 (has some bugs, but will do the job)
3. quintf70.dll -> http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=1297 (put it in the Raw 2 Bmp folder)
* Download them from Hacking Software section on Frontpage of the site.
4. Hex Editor (xvi32 hex editor will do)
5. Photoshop or whatever image editor you got available

Here is the new program by Prusa and was introduced to me by our member, Black Priest, and I thank you.
Here is the quote: This program allow convert RAW -> BMP, BMP -> RAW, GIF -> RAW - and if you converting from GIF to RAW - you even don't need a mask! GIF transparency will be used as mask. But it's console only, however - there are nothing hard, and I could translate a readme file - which contains major commands for console string. Try it - it's simple. And a... guess what else? After converting to RAW you don't need HEX edit the RAWs.

How to design Icons:
I will use my battery design as an example.

First picture shows the icon of the battery fully charged.
Second one is the mask. White area is what you will see, and black area will be transparent area.
Third one is what will be visible to you and the red area is transparent.
The final picture is what the battery icon really looks like on your phone.
Make sure to create images in Bitmap so that later you can convert to RAW images.
As this thread progresses with more participation, I will answer to any questions you might have regarding the whole process of downloading RAW images, converting, creating, hex editing (for some images), and uploading into DRM.

I've been holding the release for the DRM file for a while, till I released my skin.
Now that my skin is out, I'm releasing my customized DRM version 01 file for the public members,
so here it is!
What's included in this version:
1. Signal bar for inner screen
2. Signal bar for outer screen
3. Battery indicator for inner screen
4. Battery indicator for outer screen
5. Ring styles (loud, soft, silent, vibe, vebe then ring, vibe & ring)
6. phone icon of the top menu bar in the Multimedia section (Themes,
Pictures, Sounds, Videos) has been replaced with a media icon
7. MotoX Startup/shutdown animation
* Flash your phone with this DRM reflash file as you would with LPs.
