Just about three years after a scandal broke over a $6.8 million bill to wreck a fire truck, bought in 2006 for $2.2 million, the Government is now inviting tenders for the supply of a heavy-duty wrecker for the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.

The June 2013 “fiasco”, as then-prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar described it, straddled the tenures of former national security ministers Jack Warner and Emmanuel George and former chief fire officer Carl Williams.

Deputy chairman of the Central Tenders Board Jenepha Khan said in the tenders notice, released on August 16 by the Ministry of Finance, that “tenders are invited for the supply and delivery of one heavy-duty wrecker to the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, Ministry of National Security.

Checks on commercial truck trader websites yesterday, including CommercialTruckTrader.com, showed that a 25-tonne 2016 Kenworth T370 wrecker cost about $1.4 million (US$210,500).

i honestly don't think so. One instance of this happened in 2013. They need to be spending their funds elsewhere

Why should we buy this? what is the point? will this save use money? We don't have money to be spending on these things at this time. Taught the country running on Fumes.
