So in keeping with our oil changing abilities, we must solve one issue: what shall we do with our old oil after changing it ourselves?

How do you dispose of your old oil after changing it in the driveway? Do you take it somewhere and let a company look after recycling?

I'm about to change differential oil and I cannot figure out what I should do with the oil after its been changed by myself in the driveway.

I've seen many people dispose of it right in their drains with total disregard. Maybe someone can provide a list of companies that will recycle it for those that wish to DIY? I believe you can store the oil in a container and take it to the companies but I don't know for sure at all.

In for info. A good friend of mine's father works for a transport company so they have the big oil barrels to collect old oil. I normally just keep my old oil in the bottle that the new oil came out from and give it to him when I get a chance. He said he would try to get me a 10 gallon drum to keep home by me in case my neighbours of friends wanted to change oil as well. Other than that, I have no idea how to go about properly disposing of oil.
