With advancements in automotive technology as well as companies outsourcing for cheaper solutions to building cars, we have come to a point where different car manufacturers have come together to develop cars. In so doing they have made it possible to mass produce cars, with one side effect. This side effect is cross-platform cars, where the basic design of the chassis is the same across the board but with different branding for the bodies and some other parts. Although it doesn't always work in their favor as they all have the same car under different brands ( customer preferences ), we as consumers actually have the upper hand when it comes to mechanical replacement parts as they are almost always the exact same parts across the board. E.g. the KIA/Hyundai cross platform includes KIA Rio / Hyundai Accent, KIA Sportage/Hyundai Tucson. So I would be doing more research into more brands to show just how much we can save ourselves loads of trouble in finding spares.
