Post your Car Hacks Here.. Can be in general or from your personal experience...

1. Fix a Temp Gas Leak- . For a temporary fix before seeing your local mechanic, chew the mintie until it sticks to your teeth. When this happens chew it further to flatten it out. With a rag wipe the area around the leak until it is as dry as possible and then apply the mintie. Works like a charm until you get to the mechanic right away.

2. Use toothpaste to clean your headlights - They will be sparkling in no time!

3. Cleaning Residue from Windshield Registration Stickers- Use Peanut Butter ....Yes PEANUT BUTTER,,,Comes off in no time..Oh and also a wet newspaper will do the trick.

4. Don't hurt your fingers trying to open a Key Ring- Use a staple remover!

5. Turn on your heated seat warmer to keep food esp pizza hot for the drive home :D :D

6. Don't bang you door into the garage wall anymore... Use a half of pool noodle!

7. Use sharpie for paint scratch

8. Hang a tennis ball at the back of your garage roof as a parking guide. If you have trouble gauging the distance between the front or back of your car and the garage wall when parking then this is for you. You?ll need a two screw hooks, string or yarn and a tennis ball.
To start have your vehicle parked in the right position. Then, using a ladder and the string, measure the distance between the roof and the middle of your windscreen, add an extra foot (for knot tying) then cut. Once this is done you can put together the guide by screwing the first hook into the tennis ball and the other into your roof directly above the middle of your windscreen and then tie the string to each hook. The tennis ball should sit nicely in the middle of your windscreen. If it doesn?t untie one of the knots and adjust the height using the additional length.

LOL this is some really useful information!, however i do question the one with the peanut butter, seriously , peanut butter?????? that sounds a little suspicious hahaah

@Sharpie as in sharpie markers.

Yup i have tried the peanut butter already myself and the stickiness came off

Apply it generously to the area and then rub it with any cloth or tissue until the stickiness comes out ..

I like peanut butter too much to put it on a car! I'll try the wet newspaper first lol

-Hook a shoerack over the headrest of the front seat for easy backseat storage organizing.

-Use a razor blade to remove dead bugs, bird poop etc from your windshield.

-Not a hack, but still useful. The dirtier the inside of your car is, the dirtier and foggier your windshield gets.

-If you don't have cupholders, use a roll of tape on the passenger's seat or a shoe on the floor instead.

-There's also a Japanese theory for cooling down your car when it turns into a furnace after being parked in the sun (or just anywhere in Trinidad):
Roll down a window on a side of the car. Let's go with the driver's side window. Go to the opposite side door (in this case, passenger side) and open/close it ~5 times. Just do this normally.
SCIENCE: What we're doing here is to help circulate air by drawing the hot air out from the opening/closing door, and causing the cool(er) air to enter the car. So... be careful. Don't accidentally jam your hand against the door. Also, do this when nobody is next to your door so you don't slam it into them. ***(courtesy lifehacker)

Will try this today.

Ayee this is thing to try!! You wouldn't believe how hot a car can get, I swear I cooked an egg on the dashboard of my uncles car already

Hahaha I'm eager to try it but now that I'm looking out for the hot weather, it's cold all the time. Not complaining though! Curious to hear the results if anyone tries it....

another:
- When filling your car with gas, hold the trigger halfway. You'll get more gas and less air in the tank.

Position your mirrors in sedans so the inside of the mirror reflects the rear door handles. This gives the outter side of the mirror a wider field of view, somewhat eradicating the blindspot.
In 4wd pickups aiming the mirrors slightly down gives you a good idea of how close you are to curbs without disrupting field of view.

-Use your smartphone to take pics of where you parked your car and nearby markers to make it easier to locate.

-Lighten up on your trunk load to increase gas mileage.

-Wash your car with a hair conditioner containing lanolin for a waxy shine.

-Another headlight cleaning tip: apply window cleaner and rub vigorously with pantyhose.

-Clean windows and windshield with baby wipes.

-Clean your windshield wiper blades often to avoid streaking the glass. Use a solution of 1/4 cup household ammonia to 1 quart cold water. Gently lift the blades and wipe clean with a soft cloth or paper towel soaked in the solution, then wipe clean before putting back into place. The same solution works well for washing windshield and windows, just dry with a soft cloth or paper towel after.

-If you find yourself driving along a back road that coats your windshield with pitching dirt and grime, sprinkle cream of tartar over the windshield, and then wipe the glass down with soapy water, rinse well, and dry.

-Add 1 cup kerosene to a 3-gallon pail filled with water and then sponge the solution over your car. You won't have to spray the car before washing or rinse or wax it once you're done. And the next time it rains, rainwater will bead up and roll off the car, lessening the likelihood of rusting.

Check your tire pressure and alignment. Low tire pressure will cause your vehicle to overexert itself and waste gas so make sure your tires are up to the task. Your tires list their recommended pressure on the side. If you can’t find it, you can find the recommended tire pressure in your owner’s manual. It is also a good idea to have a certified technician conduct an alignment test since it could have been thrown off by driving over pot holes.

1. Got a hole in your fuel tank? Use minties as a temporary fix.

It pays to have a few minties in the car on the off chance your fuel tank springs a leak. For a temporary fix before seeing your local mechanic, chew the mintie until it sticks to your teeth. When this happens chew it further to flatten it out. With a rag wipe the area around the leak until it is as dry as possible and then apply the mintie.
2). Can’t get your registration sticker off? Use wet newspaper.

Out of date registration stickers are very irritating! Sometimes they can feel like they’ve been set in the glass when trying to take them off. But no need worry some wet newspaper will do the trick. Use warm water and place the newspaper over the rego sticker for 10 minutes. This lets the warm water penetrate the sticker and will almost fall off into your hands.

3)Hang a tennis ball at the back of your garage roof as a parking guide

If you have trouble gauging the distance between the front or back of your car and the garage wall when parking then this is for you. You’ll need a two screw hooks, string or yarn and a tennis ball.

If it doesn’t untie one of the knots and adjust the height using the additional length.

4)Hook a mesh bungee to your roof handles for extra storage.

Coat hooks inside your car serve a limited purpose. Even when hanging coats on them they usually aren’t off the seat and get crinkled or are in the way of whoever is sitting in that seat.

A better use for them is to hook a mesh bungee net (usually used to strap bike helmets to the back seat or fender) to the handles to use as extra storage. You can put anything up there (coats, hats, gloves etc) that you don’t want on you car floor. Most car roofs these days are curved so whatever you’re storing shouldn’t be in the backseat passengers line of site or block the drivers view out of the rear window.

Reroute your windscreen washer lines into the car and fill with water for drinks on demand.

This one is a little crazier but definitely doable. Re-routing your windscreen washer lines into your car will give you water or any other beverage you wish to put in it on demand. BUT a word of caution. I’ve only heard about this and never seen it attempted.

If you do attempt it make sure you document it for everyone else! Also make sure that the container and washer lines are completely cleaned out. Some vehicles may use a specific detergent and not just water in the lines.

(anyone willing to try this?)

-Use a fine mist spray bottles to cool hot seat belt buckles. The water doesn't have to be cool. Evaporation will cool the hot plastic and metal quickly.

Car hacking is not a good thing for us,its a very dangerous factor now a days.So to attach a slamming pools with the door of our car is a good protector for us.
