Residents of Caparo are appealing for a police post in the community.
A release from former councillor Paras Ramoutar said a public meeting will be held tomorrow from 4 to 6 pm at the Caparo RC School to discuss the matter and plan a way forward. He said the area has been hit by the crime scourge.
Senior officials of the Police Service as well as MP for Caroni Central Dr Bhoe Tewarie and Councillor John Lezama will be attending. Ramoutar said several religious leaders will also attend.
Ramoutar said within recent weeks and days "an untold amount of robberies and attempted robberies have been plaguing this quiet and peaceful community and we cannot take this kind of behaviour any more."He said in the latest incident a Kiss Bakery worker was chopped on his head, hand, and back when assailants attacked him on his return from work at 11 pm on May 25.
"Daily we see suspicious characters lurking the community as no one knows them." Residents are now afraid for their lives, he added.
