A 13-month-old baby girl is dead and police wants to know why.

The death of Aleena Atwell, 13 months old, has engaged the attention of the police who interviewed relatives at the hospital shortly afterwards after noticing skin discolourations about her body. Estrada, 28, of Lp #54 Cumuto Road, said she and her common-law husband Geron Atwell were each questioned for close to four hours at the San Rafael Police Station following Aleena’s death. She explained that she found her daughter lying motionless when she woke up to get ready for work ...

These days yuh have to wonder if people (couples) really ready to have kids....

I didn't hear anything about this story. What's the story with this? Can someone fill me in or point me in the direction of the article?

After reading the story, i see that it was as a result of pneumonia and not foul play. I didn't read the story when it broke, so i could not formulate an opinion about it. Vut uts really sad to hav to experience something like this. my deepest condolences to the family.

But why is it that the media especially express and newsday have to be pushing the story in a bad way making the partents look bad. Does very thing so have to be about making money shame on the media

Well, bad news sells papers. People like to hear bad news. That's just the mentality of us in Trinidad. They wouldn't sell as much papers if they were to put something less shocking in the papers. it all about the mighty dollar. Whether they have the full story or not. They'll word it to sound like a big conspiracy. And people, being so eager to read and believe the worst will goble it up.

On the newsday first page full page with this and hear the head line "HOW DID BABY ALEEMNA DIE" it have alot of other more pressing issues like the 2 million dollar flag murders but they so want to make it look like its foul play

I am really sorry but parents have to know any little common cold and fever should be carried by the doctor immediately as they cannot tell you how they are feeling so you cannot just suggest and leave it so. Also do not leave babies sleeping on the bed with you atleast drag the crib to the bedside where they will be sleeping right next to you . I am sorry to the family. my deepest sympathy.

Police have classified as “un-natural” the death of four-month-old baby girl, Daliah Julien who was found dead at her Laventille home on Wednesday, they have not yet ruled out foul play as investigations continue, an autopsy performed yesterday revealed that Julien died as a result of positional asphyxia, the child’s mother left her home at Quarry Street, Laventille at about 1.40 pm on Wednesday, leaving Julien in her father’s care, when the mother returned at about 3.05 pm, she observed Julien lying with her face on the pillow, and went to check on her, Realising that the baby was not breathing and her skin appeared to be cold, Julien’s mother allegedly alerted the father and they both rushed the infant to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where the baby was pronounced dead, A medical expert yesterday explained that an infant could suffocate and die within 30 seconds if their airway became obstructed, and help was not administered immediately

what was this father doing in the time of his baby girl's death?? Gosh people before you leave your child with anyone doesn't matter if family please make sure they are capable of taking care of them.
